Navigating life as an LGBTQI+ individual can come with unique challenges, from psychological and interpersonal issues to social and workplace-related concerns

Therapy offers a safe and non-judgmental space for individuals to explore and understand their identity and sexuality. Our compassionate therapists will support you through the complexities of sexual orientation and gender identity, empowering you to embrace who you are and live authentically.

While many therapists are qualified to assist with identity and sexuality concerns, working with an LGBTQI+ therapist who specialises in or has personal experience with LGBTQ+ issues can be particularly beneficial. Our therapists bring a deep understanding of LGBTQI+-specific issues, offering unique insights and expertise to help you navigate life's challenges with confidence and resilience. We can help you on your journey to greater self-understanding and fulfilment.

Gender is a massive area of growth, both socially and individually. Gender as a concept has been going through a lot of changes. Gender is generally viewed through the binary lens (meaning something with two sides or two parts). However, a shift in wide-ranging social commentary has questioned the notion suggesting that binary is too absolute for gender. It is important to note that although there is now a mainstream focus on this issue, gender has been a relevant social issue across the ages.

Gender as a psychological consideration is not an easy concept to explain because it is as subjective and individual as the adults and young people who are living it.

In terms of mental health considerations, we understand gender and gender identity as a profound human experience. There are some unhelpful conversations that surround the concepts of gender and gender identity. This may impact the pathway to seeking help. For those individuals and their support networks who have questions about gender and gender identity, it can be difficult to know where to start to find quality information and expertise.

At Psychology Perspective, we can help answer some of your questions, provide support, and help you transition to specialised services that can assist with making informed decisions.
